31 Songs of Halloween 2017, Day 9

Today we will be continuing yesterday's theme of classical music re-purposed for and now closely identified with iconic horror properties. As most fans will know by this point, one of the signs of disrespect (along with Bela Lugosi's pitiful paycheck for his iconic performance) Universal Studios paid to their beloved 1931 rendition of "Dracula" was to not even bother creating an original score for it. Something composer Phillip Glass would go out of his way to change many decades later. However, the original piece they selected to use as the theme of Dracula was very fitting, and evokes scenes of of gentle anguish and sharp terror with precision. Great for your more subdued or melancholy October moods, as might be felt on a Monday.
